Mayne and Alberto are 87 and 83 years-old. Each day, they walk to Cherry Street Park to watch the flowing St. Johns River and young people enjoy life. They talk about their childhood and the joys and failures. Their bond keeps them alive.
Mayne and Alberto meet a 14 year-old boy in the park, Jason, and decide to take him under their wings and teach him something wise about life. He isn’t interested. A policewoman, Officer Simpson, becomes involved in the story because of their conflicts.
Officer Simpson and Jason teach Mayne and Alberto as much as they learn from the two old men who die trying to get one more day looking at the beautiful river at Cherry Street Park.
